Dec. 5 St. Louis Community College at St. Louis, Missouri

The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Lady Roadrunners lost 79-58 to the St. Louis Community College Lady Archers, the 11th ranked team in NJCAA Division II Women's Basketball on Wednesday, Dec. 5 in St. Louis. The game was the Missouri Community College Athletic Conference (MCCAC) opener for the Lady Roadrunners.

SFCC led 15-8 at the end of the first quarter, but St. Louis outscored the Lady Roadrunners 26-14 in the second quarter to take a 34-29 lead into halftime. The Lady Archers went on a 24-13 run in the fourth quarter to put the game away.

"After the first quarter, we just quit playing together," said Lady Roadrunners Basketball Head Coach Kevin Bucher. "That is something that we've been battling all season. It was a close game early, but we didn't do a very good job of rebounding the basketball or defending in the second half of the game."

Sophomore guard Jazzmyn Elston of Rossville, Georgia led SFCC in scoring with 21 points, while forward Dalen Tate of Lawrenceville, Georgia contributed 12 points. Freshman forward Sahara Bamba of New York, New York pulled down a team-high eight rebounds. Sophomore guard Sckiya Banister of Kansas City, Missouri dished out a team-high four assists. Tate and sophomore forward Brionna Hill of Dover, Delaware tied for the team lead in blocked shots with two. SFCC committed 25 turnovers in the game.

Dec. 9 Southeastern Illinois College at St. Louis Missouri

The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Lady Roadrunners closed the first semester with a 75-61 loss to Southeastern Illinois College in the St. Louis Community College Showcase on Sunday, Dec. 9 in St. Louis, Missouri.

Southeastern Illinois led 21-12 at the end of one quarter, but extended their advantage to 37-28 at halftime.

Tate led the team in scoring with 14 points. She also pulled down a team-high six rebounds. Elston added 12 points and six steals. Freshman guard Nokoia White of Ennis, Texas dished out a team-high three assists in the game. Banister led her team in blocks with two.

SFCC (4-8, 0-2 in the MCCAC) will return to action after the holiday break on Jan.11 with a game against Three Rivers Community College. The contest will be the Region 16 opener for the Lady Roadrunners and is also part of the Missouri Community College Athletic Conference schedule. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. inside the Fred E. Davis Multipurpose Center.
