Frontcourt duo of Archer and Ukomadu push No. 20 Blazers past Kaskaskia

CENTRALIA, Ill. – The high-low post game was working wonders for the No. 20 Vincennes University Trailblazers Saturday afternoon as freshman Justin Archer and sophomore John Ukomadu combined for 31 points to lead VU to a 69-58 road win over Kaskaskia.

The tandem got started early, with the pair scoring 19 of Vincennes' 29 first half points as the Trailblazers grew a seven points lead heading into the break.

The low post game allowed open space for more mid-range shots from freshman Brevin Jefferson and Randy Tucker in the second half, as VU continued to grow their lead.

A few late baskets by Jefferson helped the Trailblazers cap off their 14th win of the season by the final score of 69-58.

Justin Archer led the Blazers offensively, finishing with 21 points and nearly coming away with a double-double with nine rebounds to go along with his three blocks.

John Ukomadu also almost completed a double-double, finishing with 10 points and nine rebounds as well.

Brevin Jefferson finished with 13 points, 11 of which coming in the second half, while also dishing out a team-high six assists and grabbing four rebounds.

Randy Tucker ended his day with nine points, all in the second half and also finished with three rebounds.

The Trailblazers now head into the final week of the regular season with more schedule shifting as the VU men's game this Tuesday against Southwestern Illinois has been canceled.

Vincennes will return to the P.E. Complex floor Thursday, April 1 when VU hosts Wabash Valley for sophomore night. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. eastern.

The Blazers won over Wabash Valley 61-56 in Mt. Carmel on March 3rd.
