No. 15 Trailblazers fall on the road to No. 4 John A. Logan

CARTERVILLE, Ill. – In a battle of two top defensive teams in all of junior college basketball, that earlier this season produced a 53-41 final score, it was clear from the beginning that every point was going to be difficult to come by as No. 15 Vincennes University fell at No. 4 John A. Logan 72-58.

The first half was the back-and-forth battle one would expect from two top-15 ranked teams, with Vincennes holding a 13-10 lead early in the first half aided by a 7-0 scoring run.

The Volunteers would answer back on their home floor but Vincennes was still within striking distance.

A last second dunk by John A. Logan increased their lead to just five points heading into halftime. Vincennes trailed 37-32 at the break.

The Trailblazers fought back in the second half but could not retake the lead as Logan held an 11-point advantage midway through the second half.

VU attempted a late comeback but could not get the shots to fall as No. 4-ranked John A. Logan picked up the 14-point victory over the Trailblazers.

VU was led offensively by sophomore DJ Brewton, who finished with 12 points, seven of which came in the first half, while also dishing out a pair of assists on the night.

Sophomore Randy Tucker and freshman Brevin Jefferson nearly cracked double-digits, each finishing with nine points. Tucker finished with a team-high six rebounds and Jefferson added two assists to his line.

Sophomore John Ukomadu ended his night with eight points and six rebounds.

Vincennes will be on the road again Saturday, March 20 as the finish out the week taking on Shawnee. VU came away with the 68-58 win over the Saints earlier this season at the P.E. Complex. Tip-off Saturday is set for 4 p.m. eastern.
