VINCENNES, Ind – The Vincennes University Trailblazer baseball season go off to an impressive start, starting the year 5-1 and a perfect 4-0 at Jerry Blemker Field.

Then the Trailblazers hosted the No. 1 junior college baseball team in the country Wabash Valley and the Warriors came away with the 15-2 win.

The Warriors got the scoring started early, managing to get a run across in the first inning.

Vincennes would respond however to score two of their own in the bottom of the first to take a 2-1 lead.

This would be the closest Vincennes would get to WVC for the rest of the game as Wabash Valley scored two in the fifth, four in the sixth and five in the seventh.

The Trailblazers were unable to respond in the bottom of the seventh and the game was called due to the 10-run rule with Wabash Valley coming away with the 15-2 win.

Vincennes sent nine different pitchers to the mound to face the top-ranked Warriors.

Ryan Bartley started the game for VU and struck out one batter and gave up a run.

Tyler Rice pitched 1.2 innings and struck out two hitters.

Gage Manuel came away as the losing pitcher, giving up three runs on three hits.

Cody Swimm, Mitchell Behrle, Connor VanLannen, Tanner Pittman, Blade Pittman and Bailey Elliott all saw time on the mound Wednesday afternoon as the VU pitching staff combined to strike out five Wabash Valley hitters as a whole.

For Vincennes at the plate, Peyton Lane came through with an RBI triple that score leadoff man Colin Long.
