Last second victory

Last second victory

The Cyclones kept things interesting with a close matchup with a tough Division I Wabash Valley College team, ultimately winning 74-72 in the final seconds.

There was some trading of the lead in the first half, but neither team ran away at any time. Moraine Valley held a slight 35-31 lead at halftime. In the second half, the Cyclones were down by the largest deficit in this game – nine. However, the offense stepped it up and pushed to the basket. With nine minutes left, the Cyclones tied the score. After that, each team vacillated with the lead. With 16 seconds before the buzzer, Luis Acevedo knocked down a jump shot to go ahead. The defense stopped the Warriors from any scoring chances to secure the victory.

Enari Thomas again led the Cyclones with 25 points while Javonte McKenzie was next with 16. Deven Jiles earned a double-double (14 rebounds, 10 points).
