NORTHWOOD COUNTRY CLUB, MERIDIAN, Miss. - It was a shaky start
to the spring golf season for Rend Lake College yesterday and today
at the Lou Hart Invitational, hosted by Meridian Community College
in Meridian, Miss.
Despite improving on the second day, RLC finished with a score
of 339-321-660 for sixth place and 59 strokes behind leader
Central Alabama CC - and 42 out from the second-place host
Meridian. Wallace State CC took third at 62-over par.
The Warriors were 28 strokes behind conference rival John A.
Logan College which finished 64-over, shooting 320-312-632 for
fourth place. Georgetown College shot one stroke better than Rend
Lake, a 659, for fifth and Independence CC finished seventh with a
732 (+164).
Central Alabama had the tournament medalist and runner up
in Zach Primavera with a +5 147 and Lewis Gruber with a
148.
RLC's David Griffin (Effingham) led the Warriors, tying for
eighth with an 84 on the first day and a 72 on the second for 156.
Jared Harp (Benton) tied for 21st with a 163 (83-80), Ryan Keller
(Nashville) shot a 165 (83-82) in a five-way tie
for 23rd, Elijah Sentel finished 35th with a 179 (89-80)
and Ross Rubenacker (Mt. Vernon) tied for 38th with a 183
(96-87).
The Warriors will tee it up again, March 19, at the Goose Pond
Spring Fling in Scottsboro, Ala.
