Women's Hoops Edged on the Road

Mount Carmel, Ill. - The Elgin Community College women's basketball team dropped two road games over the weekend.

ECC was edged 57-49 by Lincoln Trail on Friday night and 114-31 to No. 9 Wabash Valley on Saturday afternoon.

The Spartans move to 1-5 in their overall season.

Game 1: LTC 57, ECC 49

The teams were tied after the first quarter and ECC led 28-27 entering halftime. Elgin had trouble connecting shots in the third quarter as they trailed 37-43 after 30 minutes of play. They were unable to make up the deficit as they were edged by eight points.

Team leaders included Sarah Duque in points (13), Zoey Wilson in assists (four), Ceili Ramirez in steals (three) and Wilson and Shayne LaRock in rebounds (four).

Game 2: WVC 114, ECC 31

Team leaders included Shayne LaRock in points (13) and blocks (one), Nicole Beach in rebounds (seven) and Nicole Ramatahal in steals (two). 

The Spartans host Rock Valley on Tuesday at 5 p.m.
