Wallace Retires 10 Straight, but Chargers Fall to Falcons

HARRISBURG — Southeastern Illinois took a pair of games against the Carl Sandburg College baseball team Wednesday as the schools completed a game that was suspended in the Chargers' trip there March 5 and played an additional contest.

The Falcons won the suspended game 14-4 in seven innings and followed with a 16-2 win over Sandburg.

Key Moment
The original game had been suspended due to darkness with Southeastern Illinois leading 11-4 in the top of the fifth. The Falcons scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth Wednesday to end the contest early.

Sandburg Standout
Cam Scott (Mapleton, Ill./Illini Bluffs) had a pair of extra-base hits as part of a 2-for-3 showing at the plate. Scott  hit a solo home run in the first and added an RBI double in the fourth. He also scored twice in the game.

Key Moment
The Falcons sent 19 batters to the dish in a 13-run second inning.

Sandburg Standout
Max Wallace (Champaign, Ill./Centennial) gave the Chargers (2-5) 3.1 impressive scoreless innings out of the bullpen. After coming on with two out in the second, Wallace walked the first batter he faced but went on to retire the next 10 Falcons hitters in order. He struck out a pair and threw 23 of 39 pitches for strikes.
