Myrtle Beach, SC (March 2, 2019) - Day two of the Bryant & Stratton College softball team's spring break trip resulted in a 1-2 record after a 10-0 win over Frederick Community College, a 10-9 loss to Florene-Darlington Technical College and a 12-4 loss to Olney Central College.
The Bobcats currently stand at 2-7 overall on the season.
3/2 - Game 1 vs Frederick Community College (10-0 Win)
Bryant & Stratton saw their first win of the day come early as they surged out scoring 10 runs in the first three innings of the game and never looked back.
Freshman Ashley Weimann led the way for the Bobcats with three runs, three hits and two RBI's followed by freshman Brianna Zook with three hits, three RBI's, two runs and a walk.
Sophomore Brooke Masi finished with three hits, three RBI's and two runs while sophomore Meghan Strasser produced two hits and two runs.
Second year player Melissa Biefeld knocked in two RBI's and two hits.
Pitcher Alyssa Hild threw four innings giving up four hits and 0 runs.
3/2 - Game 2 vs Florence-Darlington Technical College (10-9 Loss).
Florence-Darlington struck first to start the game as they took a 3-0 lead through the first three innings.
In the top of the fourth, the Bobcats found their offense as freshman Samantha Flannery scored on an RBI from Strasser.
In the same inning, Weimann knocked in two more runs on a single up the middle to tie the game at 3-3.
Holding Florence-Darlington scoreless in the bottom of the fourth, the Bobcats tacked on two more runs in the top of the fith to take a 5-3 lead.
Looking for momentum, Florence-Darlington found a rythem offensively scoring one run in the bottom of the fifth and sixth tie the game at 5-5.
In the ninth inning both teams scored two runs and the score was tied at 7-7 heading into the 10th inning.
To start the top of the 10th, Weimann knocked in an RBI on a double to center field.
With one out in the inning, Zook scored on a fielding error by the first baseman bringing in Weimann for the second run of the winning.
Leading 9-7 heading into the bottom of the 10th, the Bobcats could not hold down Florence-Darlington as they scored three runs and won the game.
Weimann led the way for the Bobcats with five hits, three RBI's and one run followed by Flanney with threee hits, two runs and one RBI.
Starting pitcher Kelly Schiller threw six innings giving up three earned runs.
Relief pitcher Alyssa Hild threw 3.1 innings giving up six earned runs and one homerun.
3/2 - Game 3 vs Olney Central College (12-4 Loss)
In game three, Bryant & Stratton had the offense rolling early as Zook brought in the first run of the game on a double to right field.
With two on a zero outs, Biefeld brought home the second run of the game on a sacrifice fly.
Leading 2-0 with two outs, Flannery scored the third run for the Bobcats on a double to center field.
Folowing Flannery, Hild knocked in the fourth and final run of the inning to give the Bobcats a 4-0 leading heading into the bottom of the first.
Despite the high-powered offense to start the game, Bryant & Stratton struggled to hoild down Olney defensively as they scored three runs in the first, one in the second and five in the third.
Trailing 9-4, Bryant & Stratton failed to get the bats going in the final innings and suffered their seventh loss of the season.
Flannery led the way for the Bobcats with one hit, one run and one RBI followed by Zook with one hit and one RBI.
Pitchers Griesbach and Zane each threw 2.1 innings. Combined they gave up fourteen hits and 10 earned runs.

Bryant & Stratton will play three games on Sunday with their first game against Danville Area Community College.
First pitch will be thrown at 10:30am.
