MILLINGTON, Tenn. - The NIACC baseball team improved to 3-1 with a 13-9 victory Friday night over Frontier CC at the Babe Howard Juco Classic.
The Trojans scored three runs in the first inning, plated six runs in the sixth inning, added a solo run in the seventh inning and pushed across three runs in the eighth inning.
NIACC collected a season-high 12 hits to score its season-high 13 runs. The Trojans received two hits each from Zach Zaetta, Cody Kelly, Ike Mezzenga and Cole Fuecker.
Mezzenga, who hit his first home run of the season, was 2 for 3 with three RBIs and scored two runs. Kelly, who also had a double, scored three runs.
NIACC's Ryan Lambert, a freshman right-hander, picked up the win in relief. Lambert (1-1) relieved starter Hunter Day and struck out six and walked three in 2 1/3 innings while alloweing two runs on two hits.
NIACC returns to action Saturday at the Babe Howard Juco Classic. The Trojans face Parkland College at 10 a.m. and face Lewis and Clark CC at 12:30 p.m.
