Ocelots Softball Split Double-Header, Earn 1st Win In An Extra Inning Affair

MYRTLE BEACH, SC – The Schoolcraft Ocelots softball team got their season started with a split doubleheader against Olney Central and Kaskaskia.

Game 1-  In what would turn out to be an extra inning affair in the opening game of the year, Shannon Mosesso would get the start on the mound, going all 8 innings, giving up 3 earned runs and striking out 2 hitters. Sydney Scoggins, starting at 2nd base, would lead the Schoolcraft offense with a 2/4 day, 3 runs scored and 3 RBIs. Camryn Keough, Vanessa White, Sarah Collins, Olivia Mikowski, Madison Gray, and Amber Burzlaff would each add on a hit throughout the 8 innings.

Game 2- The 2nd game of the doubleheader would see another close game for the Ocelots. Kaskaskia would score a run in the top of the 7th to take the lead and Schoolcraft would be unable to tie the game back up in the bottom half. Schoolcraft would jump out to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the 3rd before giving up 5 unanswered runs to squander their lead. The Ocelots would tie the game in the bottom of the 5th with 2 runs coming across the plate. Schoolcraft would have 6 hits, spread across 6 different Ocelots. Hailey McCleary, Sydney Scoggins, Sarah Collins, Vanessa White, Macy Collett and Amber Burzlaff would register the hits.

The Ocelots are back on the diamond tomorrow at 9:00 AM squaring off against Glen Oaks Community College, a familiar MCCAA foe. With just a 1 game break, the Ocelots play again at 4:00 PM against Kankakee.
