Lincoln Trail Splits with John A. Logan

Lincoln Trail Softball faced off against John A. Logan in a close game that had spectators on the edge of their seats until the final inning.

The game began with Lincoln Trail establishing an early lead. Delainey Shorter's double in the third inning paved the way for Katy Crail to secure the first run of the game, setting the tone for Lincoln Trail. The team further solidified their lead when Kendal Edmondson smashed a solo homerun to center field during the top of the fourth inning, extending their advantage to 2-0.

However, John A. Logan refused to be deterred, mounting a comeback that ultimately tipped the scales in their favor. Despite Lincoln Trail's strong performance throughout the game, John A. Logan responded in the last inning with 2 runs to take the lead.

While Lincoln Trail fought valiantly until the very end, they fell short to John A. Logan.

Despite the outcome of game one, Lincoln Trail answered back in game two.

In game two, Lincoln Trail College Softball jumped right out for a first inning which included six runs. Starting with Kaydence Woodsmall singled which allowed a run to be scored by Katy Crail. Kendal Edmondson was up to bat and a wild pitch allowed Delainey Shorter to run home. With bases loaded by Kaitlyn Boerngen, Kendal Edmondson, and Caeden Bennett, Bailey Duke is up to bat. Duke hits a grandslam line drive to left field.

In inning two, Lincoln Trail does not let off the momentum despite their 4 run lead. Delainey Shorter sends a fly ball to center field giving her a HR for game two and taking Stormy Kinnard and Katy Crail with her. Woodsmall then singles. With Woodsmall on first base, Edmondson returned to the batters box hitting a HR on a line drive to centerfield getting Woodsmall home. Lincoln Trail now led John A. Logan 12-2. With just one out in inning two, Graycie Stallings hits a hard ground ball to center field getting Caeden Bennett home. With two outs, Crail sends a fly ball sending both Duke and Stallings home. Before the inning is over, Woodsmall gets a groundball causing John A. Logan to have an error resulting in Crail advancing back home. At the end of inning two, Lincoln Trail led 15-5. The game was called at the end of the 5th inning.

After a hard fought day, Lincoln Trail split with John A. Logan. There next game is Thursday, April 18th, 2024. They will host Rend Lake at 2:00pm and 4:00pm at Robinson City Park.
