Glen Oaks softball earns first win
Vikings best Kaskaskia College in South Carolina.
Glen Oaks softball's first victory of the 2024 campaign was a 5-2 result over Kaskaskia College on Sunday. It was the second game of their extended stay in South Carolina for the Fastpitch Dreams Spring Classic.
The Vikings took the lead with three runs in the bottom of the third inning, aided by three errors and two hits. In the fourth, Glen Oaks got two more, both knocked in by a Sierra Smith double. The Blue Devils had solo runs in the fourth and fifth innings. The Vikings outhit Kaskaskia 8-5 for the day.
The GOCC runs were scored by Sage Pruett, Sierra Smith, Brady Lesher, Sierra Carpenter, and Faith Kline. Each of them had a hit with Carpenter having two. Aimee Reinhardt had a hit, RBI, and walk. Jaden Adams also had a hit.
Ava Mejia earned a complete game victory pitching. She allowed five hits and two unearned runs over seven innings with four strikeouts and two walks.
Glen Oaks is 1-1 following their first day of competition. The Vikings will be at the Fastpitch Dreams Spring Classic all week with seven games ahead from Monday through Friday.
