Softball suffered a sweep at the hands of Lake Land College in their home opener on Sunday.
GAME 1- Cleveland State 2, Lake Land 12
In the first game of their two-game set against the Lady Lakers, Cleveland State suffered a 12-2 loss.
The top of the order did the Lady Cougars' damage offensively. Hannah Turner drove in one of the two Cleveland State runs in the first inning, while McCoy Hensley drove in the other with a home run in the bottom of the fifth. Hensley also scored two runs on the day.
Kaylee Hughes also recorded a hit for the Lady Cougars, while Kat Cechini walked twice.
GAME 2- Cleveland State 6, Lake Land 10
In the second game, the Lady Cougars fell 10-6 to the Lady Lakers.
Fourth different Lady Cougars hit home runs in the effort. Hensley recorded her second of the day with a solo shot in the third, while Cechini hit one in the seventh that drove in two runs. Both Turner and Hughes each hit a home run and were two-for-three from the plate. Turner hit a solo home run, while Hughes drove in two runs with hers. Haley Fair also had a Lady Cougar hit.
The Lady Cougars will be back in action Friday and Saturday as they resume conference play vs. Roane State as their doubleheader vs. Snead State tomorrow was cancelled due to rain. Friday's doubleheader is scheduled for 2:00 ET, while Saturday's play will get underway at 12:00 ET.
