Israel Takes Shutout Into 7th as Chargers Top John A. Logan

CARTERVILLE — Silas Israel (Tremont, Ill./Tremont) turned in seven stellar innings to help the Carl Sandburg College baseball team to a 5-1 win Monday afternoon at John A. Logan.

Key Moment
After the Chargers took a 3-0 lead in the first on an RBI fielder's choice and two wild pitches, they tacked on two more in the second. Chase Mason (Washington, Ill./Washington) tripled to center with one out, scoring Ashton Johnson (Brimfield, Ill./Brimfield) from first base. Cam Scott (Mapleton, Ill./Illini Bluffs) followed with a base hit to left for a 5-0 Sandburg lead.

Sandburg Standout
Israel took a shutout into the seventh inning and allowed only an unearned run on three hits and two walks. The lefty struck out eight batters for the second time in as many outings this season against the Volunteers. Israel threw 62 of his 104 pitches for strikes.
