Carterville, IL - The Logan Volunteers would sweep a Saturday doubleheader to finish off a season series sweep of Southwestern Illinois, 11-4 and 7-4. With the wins the Vols improve to 22-4 on the year and 5-1 in GRAC play. Logan will be back in action on Tuesday for a conference mid-week tilt at Kaskaskia; first pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.

Behind a solid 7-inning shutout start from Austin Ruesch the Vols would take game one 11-4. The offense for Logan would start right away when Cody Jansen would connect on a 3-run blast to center to open the scoring in the first. The Vols would put up another three spot in the 5th highlighted by Hunter Combs' and Ashton Creal's RBI singles. Creal would do damage again in the 7th with another 2-out RBI single pushing the lead to 7-0. SWIC would make a push for a comeback in the 8th picking up four runs (only one earned) off of reliever Joe Darlin, but the Vols bats would answer right back with four runs of their own. Hunter Sullivan would walk forcing a run in and then later in the inning with 2-outs Cody Jansen would drive home two with a single and Ashton Creal would again connect on an RBI single to push the game out of reach. Andrew Zenner would throw up another 0 on the mound for the Vols in the 9th. Jansen and Creal would pace the offense with multi-hit performances. Austin Ruesch (3-0) would pick up the win for Logan going seven innings, scattering five hits and striking out nine.

Game two followed a similar path with the Vols jumping out early, SWIC making a comeback and Logan adding on late to finish off the victory. After a 1-2-3 top of the first Luke Brown and Hunter Sullivan would open the game with singles and come around to score giving the Vols a 2-0 lead after one. Logan would push the lead to 4-0 with single runs in the 2nd and 3rd. The score would hold until the 6th when SWIC would finally get to Vols Starter Brodie Lenon. SWIC would force Lenon out of the game after a 2-out walk would make the game 4-3 in favor of Logan; Hunter Ralls would enter the game from the bullpen, but walk the initial batter he faced to tie the game. The Freshman from Anna would strike out the next batter to keep the game tied. Logan would jump back out in front in the bottom half with a 2-out RBI infield single from Luke Brown followed immediately by a 2-RBI single from Hunter Sullivan. Hunter Ralls would stay in the game and throw a perfect 7th to close out the victory. Offensively Brown, Sullivan, and Cameron Langston would pace the effort with 2-hit games each. Ralls (3-1) would pick up the win in releif throwing 1.1 innings, not allowing a hit while striking out two and walking one. Brodie Lenon would pick a no-decision after a quality start, going 5.2 innings, giving up four runs (two earned) on six hits while striking out 10.
