Lodge leaves Lady Lakers with split

INA--The Lady Warriors' ace pitcher, Jordan Lodge, did something most hurlers don't do against Lake Land College's softball team in a season; earned two wins from the circle.

On Tuesday, Lodge and the Lady Warriors of Rend Lake College downed Lake Land for the second time this season. The teams have each won two off each other and are finished with their regular season Great Rivers Athletic Conference meetings.

It is possible the two will meet in the Region 24 Tournament, where in all likelihood, RLC head softball coach, Dave Ellingsworth will throw Lodge for the entire tourney.

Lodge is 11-4 on the season.

Lakers starter Emily Oestreich took the loss and is now 17-4.

The final of the Oestreich/Lodge matchup in Game #1 was 6-2, Rend Lake on top.

It was Lake Land's Kooper Vertz who notched her 13th victory from the circle in Game #2 that helped Lake land to the double-header split, Lake Land winning 8-0.

Lake Land did manage to cool Lodge's bat a little, as she went 1-for-4 combined for DH. In Lake Land's April 8 loss to Rend Lake, Lodge went yard twice.

In the Rend Lake win, it was catcher Jessica Prange with the hot bat, going 3-for-3. Second baseman, Sammie Bright, went 2-for-3.

Rend Lake is now 25-12 overall and 14-7 in the GRAC, 6 and a half games behind Lake Land in first place.

Lake Land's overall record stands at 38-11, their GRAC record now at 23-3.

Lake Land has a three game lead on second place Wabash Valley, who has played four less games, matching Lake Land in the loss column with three each.

The Lady Lakers next double-header is Saturday in Harrisburg, where they will play the Lady Falcons of Southeastern Illinois College.
