LLC women start hot against Triton

RIVER FOREST (JG-TC) — The Lake Land women's team improved to 2-1 on the season after getting off to a good start against Triton College on Wednesday.

Lake Land hit three 3-pointers to start the game and scored 18 points in the first quarter. Then the Lady Lakers held Triton to six points in the opening frame to take early control of the game. Lake Land went on to win the contest 77-50.

"I thought we had a really good scouting report and information on them and the girls cut off what they wanted to," LLC coach Dave Johnson said. "We hit some 3's to loosen them up with our first three buckets being 3-pointers. I am happy with the performance. We did a good job of preparing for this game and put it into the game."

After jumping out to an 18-6 lead, Lake Land extended its lead in the third quarter with 30 points, which put the game out of reach.

"We really did a good job of pushing the tempo in the third quarter," Johnson said. "We had some easy baskets in transition."

Kassidy Bonebrake, who missed most of last season with an injury, led Lake Land with 19 points.

"She shot 5-of-9 on 3's and had five steals tonight," Johnson said. "It was a really good all-around game for her."

Jay'La Davis added 15 points and Cayla Yates had 13 points
